Member levels and rules
Every member has a level. It sets how much you can post in a day and whether links in what you write are clickable. Your level goes up on its own as you take part.
Your progress
Levels
| Level | How you get it | Threads a day | Comments a day | Links in text | Badge |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Newcomer | When you sign up | 3 | 10 | plain text | none |
| Member | On its own, see below | 20 | 200 | clickable | none |
| Verified | Given by a moderator | no limit | no limit | clickable | Verified |
A day is a rolling 24 hours: a thread started at 10:00 stops counting at 10:00 the next day.
How to become a Member
A Newcomer becomes a Member on their own, once, at their next post after all three are true:
- the account is at least 7 days old;
- you have at least 3 threads or comments that are not hidden;
- no moderator has upheld a report on what you wrote or on your profile.
A level never goes down on its own.
Verified
A moderator gives the Verified badge to people they know: event organizers, churches and communities, venues. It removes the daily limits.
What everyone can do
- read everything, vote, send messages and edit their profile;
- report a thread, comment, profile or a message they received (once each);
- block a member: they cannot message you, and your conversation with them leaves your inbox.
Reports
When 3 different members report the same thread or comment, it is hidden at once until a moderator decides.
Only reports from members who confirmed their email, signed in with Telegram or are already Members count toward that. Other reports still reach the moderators.
Reports on a profile or a message hide nothing by themselves; a moderator looks at them.
Moderators
The site's admin appoints moderators for a city, a state or the whole site. A city's moderator also covers its boroughs, so New York's covers Brooklyn.
A moderator can hide or restore a post, correct its text, give or take the Verified badge, and suspend a member. Every action is recorded and can be undone.
A moderator decides nothing about their own posts or about other moderators: the admin does.
Suspension
A suspended member can sign in and read, but cannot post, vote, send messages, report or edit their profile.
